Launched in 2022, The Smart Energy Call For Innovation (C4i) is an annually recurring investment opportunity where Genesis invests a total of $50k in student innovations at UT Austin. Partnering with the Energy Institute and backed by companies like Chevron and Shell, the C4i brings industry experts, thousands of dollars in investment funding and hands-on education to students across UT Austin. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis starting in January of every year, and funding recipients are announced in the following Fall Semester. C4i startups that are funded by Genesis will join the portfolio, granting access to not only funding, but extensive mentorship, structured training and development opportunities, and a plethora of resources to grow and succeed.
